10 Man (or less) Bhaflau Remnants boss run, a guide.
Bunch of words on how to do this, so I'm going to use a LJ cut on the strategy part ; )

What you will need :

WHM x 2 (Devotion helps a ton)
RDM x 2 (Phalanx 2 lvl2+ from both RDM, and either Para2/Slow2 lvl2+ from either of them)
BRD (Sing songs lulz)
BLM (Meritted better, blm is here more for utility than dmg, so bring that WHM SJ)
MNK (Meritted out the ass)
MNK or NIN (Meritted out the ass)
Optional DD/NIN
Optional DD/NIN

Meds : A bunch of hi-pots per melee in range, not too many, as you'll get magic fairly quickly in here 10-15 per main . Food, meritted weapons, meat only, use sushi on these non evasive mobs and you are a failure. Mages bring +HMP gear/food, WHM bring MND set for C5, aswell as typical HNM'ing gear. Emergency vile elixir +1 would be nice for mages, if they are feeling spendy, it's not necessary, but it can help.

If you bring NIN, don't be silly and make them bring tank gear, you won't be evading much, and if you do, you'll get shadow raped every 7 seconds, so just bring the DD gear along - you can bring up emergency/backup tank gear, but it's not going to help on this strat.

Melee/not nin are a burden if they pull hate. With this setup, sam/thf and rng/war etc are out of the question. This is unless, of course, you can garuntee the mnk/nin is going to hold hate at least 80% of the time. If you can, then sure! Otherwise save yourself the bother. Optional DD/NIN should be something like WAR , thief can work if they are a heavy DD thief, not your run of the mill AJ + Dragon Subligar thief.

As much as cell hogs PUP are, they are good in this zone, only smart pups who realize they're not meleeing LBC, but their puppets are. The pup himself should feel free to engage on the rest of the mobs in the zone though. PUP's puppets reflect the master's stats. If the master has no HP cell, the pet will have no HP unlocked, same for STR and such, so feel free to pass cells that way if you have smart PUP. Dumb pups gtfo. PUP's pet does good on the boss and on mobs, use the melee pet, not the mage. Eraser is good as it's going to get para/bound constantly.

Pre boss PT setup :
PT1 :
WHM
RDM
BRD
MNK
Co-Tank
DD

PT2 :
DD
WHM
RDM
BLM

If you are with 8 or 9 rather than 10, just keep squeezing DD into the main PT.

Note : ALL these people are required to bring relatively good gear, and brains. Most importantly their brains. If one of these people are a shitty player, don't even attempt.

After spamming Arrapago Remnants for multiple weeks in a row, and walking away with crap, we finally got something in Arrapago, which was the lvl35 MNK/SAM/NIN/PUP pants. The plan for our group was, if we get lvl35 anything in Arrapago, we spam Bhaflau untill it drops what we want.

I first got my idea to 8 man LBC, from a NM run gone wrong in Bhaflau, we went as RDM RDM WHM RNG RNG MNK MNK BRD COR, and still managed to get LBC down to 60-50% before he wiped us, half of us weren't mentally there :p so we bit the bullet, we also only had 10mins there so we were just playing around, however we did manage to rip a huge chunk of it off in one go. After that, I saw Ruke's group posting on BG saying they had no problems 8 man zerging it, which then confirmed that I could do it.

I don't do this LS onry, I do it as a smart people onry run. So I'll take a core of what's needed, which is the RDMs, the MNK, and then start filling up with people from my Flist or with people I know who are smart enough. I can't stress this enough, even though I sound like a gigantic snob when I say it.

Anyway, onto the strategy!

Strategy :

Level 1

http://www.ffxi-atlas.com/maps_normal2/0125_bhaflau-remnants_1.jpg

On this floor, you start all the way on the bottom of the map. Have everyone pop a RR here, even if they have a 0% chance to die, we had one of our guests last night not use a RR'er at the start, ended up dying, since he didn't think he'd die. R1 is a waste of MP when it could be used curing or on Phalanx 2.

Anyway, enter and go west. Kill all bifrons in your path, ignore every wamoura. If you see a troll, kill the troll too. Trolls and Bombs on the western path here have identical loot pools of : Duplicatus, Incus, Humilius, Spissatus. If you got a nin instead of a MNK, give them weapons first, otherwise give the stronger mnk weapons. SJ goes to MNK > NIN > RDM/WHMs > Other DD/NIN > BRD > BLM > WHM

Keep going north untill the top, then you arrive in a central room. Go down to H-8 area, and you will see 3 Flying Wamoura, pull them one at a time, and have anyone with MP, move far from them. First Magic cell goes to RDM in the MNK pt using phalanx2 on the mnk, and cures here and there. First abilities to the first mnk too. Next magic cell to the brd, who can then Paeon 5 untill and unudalatus cell drops, and abilities to NIN, third magic goes to the BLM, for the flans on the next floor, as black magic is great damage on some flans. Yes, this means WHM will not have magic unlocked, but it's not important considering the lone RDM can keep up with the whole PT after ballads kick in.

Anyway, once you have Abilities and Magic, this is where the fun begins. Start backtracking, to the room prior. There will be wamoura x 8 , pull them safely, 2 at a time is ok, since you have RDM, BRD, BLM there, 3 of the best crowd control in the game. Start killing wamouras, pulling them safely and clearing the room.

Important : Although cells from this point onwards are going to flood out very fast, let the MNK and NIN lot on the first cells of each necessary type, let the BRD and PUP take the first Unudalatus. If the RDM has a dalmatica/vermy, let them take the third body cell after mnk and nin.

Everyone can virtually completely unlock , here barring weapons, the wamouras become a joke after you get abilities and magic. Each wamoura has the potential to flood the treasure pool. Their drops are not static, but they do drop <certain cell> x <alot>. Day before yesterday we got lucky, and almost completely unlocked after the first few wamoura, and decided to stop farming and go up, yesterday we had to kill them all though do to the majority of them dropping Radiatus, and hardly any virga, however it was still fast.
Btw, your BRD should be merit pulling the wamouras the whole time, with blm helping sleep @ camp, brd will resist alot till undulatus cell.

Anyway, once you're satisfied with your armor, head back to the Flying Wamoura room. There are trolls here which can drop the last bunch of Bifron/Troll cells for this floor, Spiss/Dupli/Incus/Humi . Give the first Incus from these trolls to a BLM to use on the next floor.

Have someone stand on the porter while you're fighting wamoura, preferably a WHM since they won't be doing a thing till floor 3. (This does not mean enter and AFK ;) )

Level 2
http://www.ffxi-atlas.com/maps_normal2/0125_bhaflau-remnants_2.jpg

You will see Flan x 4 on this floor, they all drop a magic cell each. Hold onto magic cells if you brought in 10 casters, if you only had 8, have someone hold them all and only use dupe NM if necessary (and if up), hand them out otherwise.

After that, head to the room in I-9, it should be full of scorpions and trolls. Start by having the brd pull trolls slowly, because scorpions link the whole damned room, but if you're confident you can pull Scorps 1 or 2 at a time, you can get those. They can hit very hard though so take care.

You're pretty garunteed to finish up on weapons(Incus) at this point, then cells will start dropping. Give them to RDM>WHM>RDM>WHM. Stat cells will also drop, now because you have smart people with you, including whms who have mnd macros for cure5 and such, the cells won't be wasted!

Melee cells :
MNK1 > MNK or NIN (whichever you brang for this slot) > Other MNK > Other melee

Velum(INT) : BLM > RDM1 > RDM2

Pileus(MND) : RDM > WHM > RDM > WHM > BLM(stoneskin) > BRD

Mediocris(CHR) : BRD > Then start crying as 60 more drop.

People here should have what they need by now, and it's only lvl2. You might have 70 or so mins remaining, this is good, you plan to see LBC with 40-50 mins remaining.

You'll be missing SJ for a few people, that is normal, and that's what the next floor is for. BTW, Exit here on I-11's porter.

Level 3
http://www.ffxi-atlas.com/maps_normal2/0125_bhaflau-remnants_3.jpg

You will land here at I-10. Here, you will fight "Catch up mobs" - these drop just about anything, they have the chance to also drop SJs for those who needed, aswell as key missing Equipment. Once you have what you need, go up. If you got a link but got what you need, who cares, go up. Porter is at J-9, so you send somone there while everyone farms (I went usually, as 2nd RDM for the non melee pt I wasn't doing much anyway).

Level 4
http://www.ffxi-atlas.com/maps_normal2/0125_bhaflau-remnants_4.jpg

I forgot where exactly you land here, aurik will fill me in when he reads this then i'll update this part :p Anyway, ignore this whole place, have someone with +movement speed go to the porter and port up. Gears tele away on this floor if aggro'd.

From Aurik :
Floor 4:
http://img235.imageshack.us/img235/9016/bhaflauremnants4ou9.jpg

Start at the bottom-right. Head towards the center. With 12% movement enhancement, you can outrun triple gears easily, and the single gears will warp out rather than chase you.

Level 5
Final Floor
Enemy : Long-Bowed Chariot

Ok, by this floor you will have anywhere from 40 to 55 mins left, depending on luck and cell drops. First time we did this with our strat we had nearly 60 mins left, boss died with 15 mins left on clock. We added 2 more DD the next day, we entered with 45 mins left, and boss died with 20 mins left on the clock <_<

Everyone should use a fresh reraise apon entering the floor.

Anyway, your competent healers and players, now's the time for skills to shine. The key is letting mnks have full hate over everyone. If you brought a nin, nin and mnk can bounce hate, so long as they have a large majority of the hate.

Discharge = Paralyze, Inertia Stream = Bind, and some other floodlight-esque move, that's frontal + dispel (who cares), and the most important one to take care of, Homing Missiles. BAAAD. Try stun it if you see it. How homing missiles works is if somone in front of LBC takes hate, he will use it. Also someone who pulls hate way outta range.

By the way, did you get any body boosts in the chests on the way up? Give them to your melees and have them use it before starting the fight.

You have to fight LBC on his side, LBC won't turn around to face you constantly, he's more like a Dragon where he'll smack you with his rear.
Anyway, the way we did it, have all your melees stay on the same side of LBC, that way the BRD can hit them all without getting into AOE range.

Have your base DD's on LBC always, your extra optional DD's might need to pull back if the TP gets out of hand. If they pull back, make them pull back out of range (11 units) but also stay on LBC's side. Don't pull back and stay to the front, incase he decides to missile that person. So basically MNK + NIN or MNK+MNK(we've done both, both work), third and fourth optional DD is fine, but once it gets heavy, pull back.

BLM on the boss for our strategy is utility over dmg. They can focus on a melee, paralyna/erase etc, since the rdms will be very busy. Stun homing if you can, if you can't , no worries. When it's zerg time, that's when the BLM should really go nuts with nukes.

Our philosophy on killing is really Consistent DMG > Big booms and WS's. If you are consistently damaging it from 100% down to 0% you'll have better hate control and better management.

If homing missiles goes off, don't panic, recover. If you can't recover, wipe, and have a BLM equip a RR hairpin (less recast timer on RR) and start zombying. Bio doesn't overwrite itself, so you have to wait for it to wear before re-applying it.

It's pretty much a straightforward fight, yes you will be getting shadow stripped constantly, but it's ok. Stick phalanx2 on melees, Shell5 them , keep erase/paralynas on them.

Key boss info :
- From 80% and under, he gains the Double Attack ability.
- From 70% and under , he start turning. You need to stay on his side, otherwise staying to his front = Homing Missiles.
- From 50% and under, he gains triple attack (I want to confirm if this is true triple attack, or was it because elegy wore off making it seem triple)
- From 25% and under, he gains TP regen and uses TP at 100%
- At each phase, he gains an attack boost, by the last phase he can crit people for well over 500-700.

Important player info :
- Keep Slow2, Paralyze2, and Elegy on him at all times. If a RDM is resisting, report it so the other one can attempt.
- Bard should keep him weakened to ice, for Paralyze2 purposes
- Do not use DoT from below 10%, incase you need to zombie it. We did this mistake recently, it died unclaimed to DoT after we called for wipe, therefore giving no drops ( read about it here ).
- WHM should have devotion and Shell5 (full merits if possible) unlocked, will help you so much for healing up the AOE spam.
- Assign a WHM per melee for stat removal, but when WHM needs to rest, let them know so other people can hit them with a stat removal.
- If LBC moves, you move. If you're a bound melee, and LBC turned, announce that you're bound.
- If too much TP is being fed, and whms / rdms can't handle it , have the extra DD's pull back. You have more than enough time to kill LBC with this many people.

Rule of thumb for certain cells
- Magic : RDM > BRD > BLM (lvl2) > WHM > MNK/NIN(main dd/tank) > NIN or MNK (whichever you brought) > RDM2 > WHM2 > Other DD
- Abilities : MNK tank > Co Tank > DD > RDM > WHM > RDM > WHM > BLM > BRD
- HP cell : MNK tank > Co Tank > DD > BRD > RDM > RDM > WHM > WHM > BLM  (This is because BRD gets into AOE range occasionally, he'll get it before RDM. RDM shouldn't pull hate, they won't need the HP cells that much, but for convert purposes they should take it).
- MP cell : RDM > WHM > RDM > WHM > BLM > BRD.
- SJ Cell : MNK tank > Co tank > RDM > DD/NIN > BRD > BLM > WHM (WHM work without their subjobs, they'll only lose refresh or conserve MP really, not too important)

PT setup for LBC :
Tank PT : WHM WHM MNK CO-TANK(MNK or NIN) RDM BRD
Other PT : RDM BLM Other 2 DD. If this RDM is low on MP, other DD's can pull back.

Pics of our back to back kills with 15-20mins time remaining on each. Both include a 6~ min zombie fest, the first one had 2 zombies :

After doing LBC like this twice, I am 100% confident in this strategy. I know it's such a small sample size, but my previous experience of this zone doesn't give me any evidence why we couldn't do this 17 times in a row with the same strat and not win.

By no means did I come up with it entirely, it's a mix of our own experiences + knowledge from messageboards that we read and also shared our own personal information with. Looking back at when we used to do this with 18, and finishing within 3 mins, we've come a loooooooong way within a few months. Arrapago really trains you for Bhaflau, really. Bhaflau is Dynamis Bastok, while Arrapago is Dynamis Tavnazia. Once you've done Arrapago to bits, LBC is no longer intimidating, he's as scary as lvl5 Arra chariot to me now (read : not scary :p ).

Just goes to show how much strategy is key, and 18 man zerging days are long gone! (well for ToaU+ at least)

Another update from after today's run. We decided to replace one of the extra DD's with an extra WHM instead, and it worked amazingly well to our advantage. LBC died within 17 mins, we ate homing missiles, but had so much MP to spare that no zombies were needed, straight kill from start to finish.

Unfortunately, we got the exact same drops as the other day, Freyr's Feet and Phobos' mask boo! Moar morrigan + MNK pants plz.
